Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, through the School of Postgraduate Studies, SPGS, has released the approved postgraduate academic calendar for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The calendar covers resumption, registration, lectures, second semester examinations, marking, postgraduate committee meetings, Senate-related meetings, vacation, academic staff annual leave and the start date for the 2026/2027 session.
What Is the ATBU Postgraduate Second Semester Calendar?
The ATBU postgraduate second semester calendar is the approved schedule for postgraduate academic activities at the university.
Postgraduate students are expected to use the calendar to track registration, lectures, examinations and vacation, while departments, faculties and relevant committees will use it for academic processing and meetings.
When Will ATBU Postgraduate Students Resume and Register?
Resumption and registration for all postgraduate students will run from Monday, 22 June to Friday, 26 June 2026.
The period covers five days and students should use it for the required second semester registration activities.
When Will Lectures Hold for the Second Semester?
Lectures will be held from Tuesday, 23 June to Friday, 11 September 2026.
The lecture period will last for 12 weeks, giving postgraduate students the approved teaching period before the second semester examinations.
When Will ATBU Postgraduate Second Semester Examinations Start?
The second semester examinations will take place from Monday, 14 September to Monday, 12 October 2026.
The examination period will last for four weeks and students should use the lecture period to prepare for the approved examination window.
What Is the Marking Period?
Marking will run from Monday, 5 October to Monday, 2 November 2026.
The marking period will last for four weeks and it overlaps with the last part of the examination period as stated in the approved calendar.
When Will Postgraduate Committee Meetings Hold?
Departmental and Faculty Postgraduate Committee meetings will be held from Tuesday, 3 November to Friday, 6 November 2026.
The meetings will last for four days and they come after the approved marking period.
When Will the PG Board Meeting Hold?
The Postgraduate Board meeting will be held from Monday, 9 November to Tuesday, 10 November 2026.
The meeting period covers two days.
When Will Senate Business Committee Meetings Hold?
Senate Business Committee meetings will be held from Wednesday, 11 November to Thursday, 12 November 2026.
The meetings will last for two days and they will come before the Senate Examinations Meeting.
When Is the Senate Examinations Meeting?
The Senate Examinations Meeting will be held on Monday, 16 November 2026.
The meeting is scheduled for one day.
When Will Students Go on Vacation?
Vacation for all students will run from Tuesday, 13 October to Tuesday, 29 December 2026.
The vacation period will last for 11 weeks and it starts after the approved second semester examination period begins to close.
When Will Academic Staff Annual Leave Hold?
Annual leave for academic staff will run from Tuesday, 17 November to Tuesday, 29 December 2026.
The leave period will last for six weeks.
When Will the 2026/2027 Session Commence?
The 2026/2027 academic session will commence on Wednesday, 30 December 2026.
