The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice Chancellor as Chief Administrative Officer.
The office covers records, examinations, statutory meetings, committee work and support for the general administration of the University.
The Registrar’s duties include:
- Keeping all records of the University in safe custody.
- Arranging for the conduct of examinations.
- Serving as Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation, Convocation and other bodies as the Statutes of the University may prescribe or as the Vice-Chancellor may direct.
- Being responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for executive action arising from decisions of those bodies.
- Serving as a member or secretary of academic and administrative committees as may be prescribed by law or by relevant University authorities.

Candidates for the Registrar post should possess a good honours first degree in the Liberal, Humanities or related disciplines.

The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University.
The Bursar is responsible to the Vice Chancellor and the University Council for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
The Bursar’s duties cover:

- Budgeting.
- Disbursement of funds.
- Preparation and presentation of annual estimates.
- Planning and control of University accounting and treasury services.
- Periodic evaluation of accounting and treasury services.
- Investment of funds.
- Preparation and updating of the Manual of Financial Procedures.
- Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
What Qualifications Are Required For The ABU Bursar Post?
Candidates for the Bursar post are required to have a good honours first degree in Accounting.
They must also possess a professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, ICAN or ANAN.
Candidates must have at least 15 years post-qualification cognate working experience and this must include not less than five years at managerial level in a comparable establishment.
