MDCN New notice on assessment examination

A. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

i) The examination shall be for candidates trained in ALL Countries (other than Nigeria) whose training institutions are currently listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (www.wdoms.org); and for Nigeria-trained doctors that either failed to complete their internship within twenty-four months of graduation or those whose medical/dental schools have lost their accreditation.

i) Candidates must hold medica/dental degrees of approved medical and dental training institutions which shall be verified by the MDCN through global verification process.

ii) Candidates must show evidence of eligibility to practice medicine/dentistry in their Countries of training. A current practicing license and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Country’s medical/dental regulatory authority (not from the Training Institution) shall be required.

B. EXAMINATION FORMAT:

The examination shall consist of:

i) Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MC) covering all aspects of Basic Medical and Clinical Sciences in Medicine and Dentistry.

ii) Clinical Examinations comprising Long and Short Cases or Objectives Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

ii) Practical/Clinical Examinations in Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Child Dental Health etc. (for Dental candidates only).

iv) English Language paper for non-English speaking graduates from medical/dental schools whose language of instruction is not English.

C. NON-REFUNDABLE APPLICATION FEES

1) Nigerian Candidates – N 250,000.00

(2) Non-Nigerian Candidates- N 400,000.00

(3) Other charges (Dental materials for dental candidates only) – N50,000.00

Candidates are advised to note that all payments made are non-refundable. Please ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria before applying. The criteria are listed below.

D. ONLINE APPLICATION FORMS/REGISTRATION PAYMENT

Applicants are to register by completing online forms and make payment through: https://portal.mdcn.gov.ng/assessment-exam

E. REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS

The following documents are to be uploaded on the portal:

i. Stamped EPIC Dataflow/Identification/confirmation form.

ii. Evidence of payment of required fees to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

iii. Relevant academic qualifications in GCE/SSCE/NECO (Five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings), medical/dental degree certificates (Statement of results are not acceptable

iv. Relevant portions of International Passport (Visa and Arrival & Departure stamped pages).

v. Colour passport-size photographs.

vi. Birth certificate or statutory declaration of age.

vii. Current practislcing license/evidence of eligibility to practice medicine/dentistry in the Country of training, issued by the Medical/Dental Regulatory Authority (MRA) in that country.

viii. Closing date for submission of application forms is 9th October 2025.

Candidates are also required to Email their Certificate of Good Standing issued by the MedicaVDental Regulatory Authority to meicaleducation@mdcn.gov.ng

NOTES:

i. Medica/Dental students yet to receive their medical/dental degree certificate need not apply

ii. Medical Candidates are required to come with their individual Stethoscope, Diagnostic set, Patella Hammer and Tape Rule.

iii. Dental Candidates are required to come with their individual Mouth mirror, Probes, Tweezers etc.

iv. Candidates will be informed of the venue of the CBT part of the examination before the date of the examination.
