The authority of Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Basic Studies programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The programme is for secondary school leavers who need stronger preparation for the JAMB examination and it also covers Senior Secondary School III students and other school leavers preparing for NECO and WAEC examinations.

What Is the NDU Basic Studies Programme For?

The NDU Basic Studies programme is a one academic year preparatory programme for candidates seeking better readiness for JAMB, WAEC and NECO examinations.

It is also a route for candidates who wish to build capacity for possible admission into degree programmes in the university, subject to their performance in the current JAMB examination and other admission conditions.

Who Can Apply for NDU Basic Studies Admission?

Admission is open to suitably qualified candidates who have the required O’level results for their intended course of study.

Candidates awaiting the release of the most recent WAEC and NECO School Certificate Examination results may also apply, while those who have attempted these examinations and are preparing to sit again may be considered.

What Are the Admission Requirements?

Applicants must have five O’level credits relevant to the proposed course of study, including English Language and Mathematics.

The credits must be obtained in not more than two sittings in GCE and SSCE.

Admission into degree programmes in Niger Delta University will also depend on the candidate’s performance in the current JAMB examination.

How Will Candidates Apply for NDU Basic Studies Admission?

Candidates are expected to complete the application through the university portal, then proceed to the School of Pre-Degree and Basic Studies for further processes.

The registration process is as follows:

  1. Visit the NDU application portal.
  2. Click on Basic Application.
  3. Click on “Start Application” to create an account with full name, gender, phone number, email, contact address and password.
  4. Buy EPin online only, using a bank debit card or credit card.
  5. Fill the application form with the purchased EPin, which will be generated and sent to the candidate’s email and phone number.
  6. Apply for admission after completing the form.
  7. Proceed to the School of Pre-Degree and Basic Studies, ICT Building at the New Site, then obtain the admission application form at the Basic Studies Unit for further processes.

How Long Will the Programme Last?

The NDU Basic Studies programme will run for one academic year.
