The National Universities Commission, NUC, has approved the commencement of 15 more courses for Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University, AATU, Oke-Ogba, Ganmo, Kwara State.
The approved courses will be run in full-time mode with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session, according to a statement signed by the Director of Academic Planning of NUC, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
Which AATU Courses Has NUC Approved for 2026/2027?
NUC has approved 15 new courses for Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University.
The courses are:
- LL.B. Common Law
- LL.B. Common and Islamic Law
- B.Sc. Nursing Science
- B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science
- B.Sc. Chemistry
- B.Sc. Medical Physics
- B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry
- B.Sc. Public Health
- B.Sc. Political Science
- B.Sc. Public Administration
- B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence
- B.CHS. Community Health
- B.Sc. Intelligence and Security Studies
- B.Sc. Microbiology
- B.Sc. Mass Communication
The approval covers the establishment of the full-time mode for the listed undergraduate academic programmes.
When Will the Approved Courses Start?
The 15 approved courses will start from the 2026/2027 academic session.
This means Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University has been cleared by NUC to commence the listed programmes from that session, subject to the approved full-time mode stated by the Commission.
Why Was NUC Approval Granted?
The NUC approval followed a Resource Verification visit by a panel of experts from the Commission.
The panel visited some proposed undergraduate academic programmes to assess the human and material resources available for the courses and the approval was granted after the Commission considered the report.

The statement was signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Director of Academic Planning at the National Universities Commission.
He signed on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission and the statement confirmed the approval for full-time mode from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University, Prof. Olugbenga Olatunji, praised the National Universities Commission for approving all the proposed courses.
He said the university was well equipped with world-class facilities and he gave assurance that the university would not relent in ensuring that its graduates are world-class.

Prof. Olugbenga Olatunji commended the Proprietor of the university, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin, for the approval of the new courses.
