The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, Re-Sit Examination Timetable.
This follows the release of the 2026 NECO BECE results and the published BECE Re-Sit examination modalities.
Who Is The BECE Re-Sit Examination For?
The BECE Re-Sit examination is for candidates who have conditional deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies or both subjects.
The examination gives affected candidates a chance to remedy the deficiencies, gain the required certification and be considered for admission and placement into Senior Secondary School, SSS1, without repeating a full academic year.
When Will The 2026 BECE Re-Sit Examination Be Held?
The 2026 BECE Re-Sit examination will be held over two days.
English Studies will be written on Wednesday 22 July 2026, while Mathematics will be written on Thursday 23 July 2026.

What Should Candidates Check Before The Examination?
Candidates are expected to confirm their subject, date and time before the examination begins.
A candidate with a deficiency in English Studies should follow the Wednesday schedule, while a candidate with a deficiency in Mathematics should follow the Thursday schedule; a candidate affected in both subjects should sit for both days.
Which Examination Number Will Be Used?
The candidate’s examination number used during the main BECE will be the same number to be used for the Re-Sit examination.
Schools should guide affected candidates to use the same BECE examination details, so that the Re-Sit record matches the main examination record.
What Rules Has NECO Given For The Timetable?
NECO gave the following timetable instructions:
- Where the time on the question paper differs from the time on this timetable, the time on the question paper should be followed.
- The candidate’s examination number used during the main BECE should be the same number to be used for the Re-Sit examination.
